Zenon Kos Obituary

Zenon Kos, a longtime resident of New Jersey, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024.  He was 67.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Zen was the son of the late Doctor Roman and Anna Kos (nee Nawodycz).  His parents had emigrated to the United States in August of 1950 and settled in New Jersey.  The family moved to Philadelphia in the early 1960's and settled in the Fairmount section of the city.  Zen attended St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School and was a graduate of Central High School; he earned a BS in Applied Science (Chemistry) from Temple University.

His career path took him into the automobile industry where he rose from car salesman to his most recent position as Director of Finance for BMW of the Main Line.

Zenon met the love of his life and future wife, Joan DeFelice, at work in 1986 and together they began a journey that lasted until Joan's passing in 2020.

Zenon had many friends and was a unique and popular person.  Everyone who knew him had a story to tell about him that would bring a smile.  Upon seeing him, you were best friends in a matter of minutes.  Although he will be sorely missed, we take comfort in knowing that he has rejoined Joan in Heaven.

He is survived by his sister Luba Kos and is predeceased by his wife Joan and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday at 9 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church; Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Zen's memory may be made to the Ukrainian American Sports Club Tryzub.
