William Van Osten Obituary

William J. Van Osten, a resident of the Lawncrest area of Philadelphia (formerly of W. Tabor Road in Olney), died Sunday, February 5, 2023.  He was 85.

He was the son of the late George and Anna (Stolnecker)  and devoted husband of the late Ruth Van Osten (Varn); he is survived by his children: Ruth Donnelly(Joe), Kim Puhl, William (Sean), Jeffrey and Michele Smith (Matt).  He was Grandpop of Joseph (Michelle), Brooke (Marc), Matthew (Sara), Alexis,Tyler, Dereck, Kyle, Georgia and Maxine and Great-Grand pop of Marc, Dylan, Holden, Ava, Nathan, Lillian, Kennedy and James.  He is predeceased by his grandson, Justin Donnelly and brothers George, Alfred and Robert.
Bill was a man who was always there for family, friends and neighbors and enjoyed a good time; he loved all of the Philly sports teams and loved playing golf and bowling.  He was a great listener and an honest  man (sometimes too honest).  He
loved his wife unconditionally; he was so proud of all his children and grandchildren and he loved watching his great-grandchildren grow.  He took on many jobs to support his family.

Bill's family will greet friends on Friday at 10 AM at the Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home; services will be held at 11:30 AM.  Committal prayers will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
