William Mykijewycz Obituary

William Mykijewycz, a resident of Northeast Philadelphia, died suddenly on Monday July 6, 2020.  He was 61.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Michael and Sofia (Bohusz) Mykijewycz.

Bill lived in Philadelphia his entire life. Bill and Anna Nazar crossed paths countless times before officially meeting each other at one of the many Ukrainian dances and other events they attended as kids and young adults. “Billy and Annie,” as they were affectionately known, married on May 20, 1989 and welcomed son, Alex, 3 years later. Together their family lived near many other loved ones in the Greater Philadelphia area where Bill was employed as an accountant for ACE U.S.A. before retiring.

He is survived by his son, Alexander M. Mykijewycz; his siblings: Annemarie Boardman, Bohdan (Marie) Mykijewycz, and Myroslaw (Mary) Mykijewycz.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Stephen (Christina) Mykijewycz; Jennifer Mykijewycz; Roman (Natalia) Mykijewycz; Luba (Ryan) Mykijewycz; Rosalie Gibson; Mark Bezpalko; Anthony (Lily) Nazar; and Natalie (Tim) Binder.  Bill was a godfather to his nieces Christina (Dennis) Haggerty; and Jessica (Matthew) Carasso.  Bill and his nephew, Joseph Boardman, always shared a special bond, and Joe was certainly the first one to welcome Bill to their heavenly home.

Bill was also the great-uncle of Samantha, Travis, Aubrey, Caroline, Thomas, Andrew, Oliver, and Maksym.  Bill leaves behind lifelong best friend, Paul Montgomery, many extended relatives, and friends from the church community.

Bill’s wife Anna preceded him into eternal life in April 2007.  Bill is also survived by his mother-in-law, Stefania Nazar, and Anna’s siblings Mary (Michael) Binder; Bohdan (Sylvia) Nazar Jr.; and Roman Nazar.

Bill’s family will greet friends on Saturday at 9 AM at Annunciation BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Melrose Park, PA.  Requiem Liturgy will follow at 10 AM.  Burial will be at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.

Bill was an avid animal lover and had a heartfelt affection for cats including Miracle, who was always by his side since he rescued her in 2013.  In lieu of flowers and in Bill’s honor, donations may be made to Red Paw Emergency Relief Team.
