Walter W. Luciw, a longtime resident of the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, died on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was 77.
Born in Austria, Walt was a son of the late Wasyl and Olga (Kociunak) Luciw. He emigrated to the United States with his family after World War 2.
A graduate of Bishop Neumann High School, Walt was drafted into the US Army during the Viet Nam War; after his discharge, he worked for the US Postal Service before retirement.
He is survived by his siblings: Jerry Luciw (Joan), Mary Hoerst (Max), Boris Luciw and Doris Luciw as well as nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his sister, Irene Wilson.
Walt's family will gather on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
