Virginia Sassman, a life long resident of Philadelphia, died Friday, December 2, 2022. She was 88.
Born in raised in South Philadelphia, Ginnie was the daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (Herbetko) Kotyk. She was a graduate of John Bartram High School and a member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church in Northern Liberties.
She married John Sassman in 1961 and they lived in Northeast Philadelphia; she was a secretary for the City of Philadelphia for over thirty years. Ginnie retired in 1990.
She is predeceased by her husband John who died in 2016 and is survived by her sister, Catherine McAnney; Ginnie is also predeceased by her siblings: Harry Kotyk, Rose Kotyk, Anna Kotyk, Mary Forney, Ellen Grugan, Tessie (Tatiana) Dickey and Olga Kotyk. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday at 11 AM at the Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home. Requiem Services will be sung at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
