Vira Shapowalenko

Vira Shapowalenko passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2024.  She was 99 years old. 

Vira was born in Minsk, Belarus on December 6, 1924.  After the passing of her father, her mother took her two daughters to the Donetsk region of Ukraine.  Like so many of that generation, Vira went to Germany during the war. There she met and married her husband Paul and they had their first son, Anatole.  After the war, they relocated to Brazil and had their son Ihor.  Eventually they relocated to Philadelphia, Pa.

Vira was very religious and belonged to the Word of Life Church in Feasterville.

Vira was predeceased by her husband Paul and her son Anatole.  She is survived by her son Ihor and her daughter in laws, Oksana Shapowalenko & Vera Shapowalenko, her grandchildren Tania Peltekis, Nina Chaikin, Natalie Shapowalenko & Paul Shapowalenko and 4 great grandchildren, Katerina, Peter, Anja, & Dimitri Peltekis.
