Varghese Pulivelil Obituary

Varghese V. Pulivelil (Babu) was born to the late Rev. Father Pulivelil Daniel and Mariamma Daniel at Pulivelil House, Konni.  He is survived by his five siblings: Retired Professor Thomas Pulivelil (Kunjumon), Rajan Daniel, Molly Joy, Rani (Susamma) and Reverend Father Mathew P. Daniel, Vicar of Kumbazha Orthodox Church.

He was a very devoted and loving husband who always preferred to be independent and who possessed a very strong personality.  He was defined and determined; he persevered to create a loving environment for his family to grow in.

After his school studies, he moved to Orissa at the age of 16 and continued his education in Burla Medical College for his Diploma in Pharmacy.  Thereafter, he worked in Bhubaneswar for more than 30 years.  He then emigrated to the United States in the 1990's with his family.

Babu was solemnized in Holy Matrimony to Baby Varghese (Baven), Othalathummoottil House, Chengalam, Kottayam (Baby died in August of 2019).  They were blessed with two children: Leena, married to Sanmay Oommen (Thaekel, Thiruvalla) and Bivin, married to Reem (Vayalappallil, Kanam).  Babu and Baven were showered with five beautiful grandchildren: Alia, Anaya and Daniel Pulivelil and Edwin and Eliana Sanjay.

His strong faith kept him going and strong enough never to complain about his aging aches and pains.  He always loved to lead the prayer during all our extended family gatherings.  He was very devoted brother to all his siblings and brothers-in-law  and sisters-in-law.

Babu entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 5, 2021.

His viewing and services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 9 AM at St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church.  Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
