Theodozia M. Harasewych
(nee Mackiw)
Born February 27, 1925 in Lipnica, Poland. Dozia (Doris) is the beloved wife of predeceased Wolodomyr and the loving mother of Bohdan A. Harasewych (Katria), Myrolaw Harasewych (Linda); dear grandmother of Tanya Lisowsky (Petro), Tamara Krup (Daniel), Andrij B. Harasewych (Joanna), Stephamie Kagan (Micah) and Catherine Harasewych and great-grandmother of Kalyna, Sophia and Jeremy Lisowsky, Ella, Olivia and.Luke Krup, Matej and Lilya Harasewych, Charlotte and Connor Kagan.
Dozia immigrated to Florence, South Carolina with her husband, parents and brothers in 1949 where they worked for their sponsor, an owner of a large plantation. They moved to Philadelphia in 1952 with the assistance of Father Treshnewky, the same priest that married them in the Ulm Internment Camp in Germany. They resided in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia and became members of the St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and community.
Dozia worked for the Insurance Company of North America for several years after which her career was in the accounting department of Westinghouse Electric Company, appliance division until retirement.
Dozia was an active member of the Ukrainian Women’s League and an active choir member at St. Nicholas Church. She was also a member of the Kobzar Choir where they staged performances in many cities, including in Philadelphia’s Academy of Music. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as always knitting blankets and sweaters for her children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:30 AM followed by a Requiem Liturgy 11:00AM at Annunciation BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Old York Rd and Valley Rd., Melrose Park, Pa. Burial will be in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, Pa.
