Stanley (Stosh) Ciolko, Jr., of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at at the age of 88. He was born in Phoenixville, PA on July 2, 1931. Stosh was the son of the late Stanley and Julia (nee Plish) Ciolko.
Stosh served in active duty with the US Army in the 7th & 141st Tank Battalions from October 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in September 1954. He also served in the US Army Reserves until his Honorable Discharge in October 1960.
Stosh was a member of the Bakery & Confectionary Union and worked for Acme and Continental Bakery, retiring in July 1993.
Stosh enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, taking daily walks, crossword puzzles and gardening. In his youth he enjoyed playing soccer, transitioning to coaching in his later years. He loved attending his grandchildren's various sporting events.
Stosh will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Maguire Ciolko; children Edward, Thomas, Joni (Edie), Stephen (Maureen) and Michael (Michele); his grandchildren: Timothy, Ryan, Andrew, Brian, Alyssa, Emily and Colin; his brother William (Joan); and his sister-in-laws, Kate Munro and Loretta (George) Davidson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved. In addition to his parents, Stosh was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Wally and Leon and his nephew, Timothy J. Shields.
Services will be held privately for the family due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Stosh's memory be made to: the Gary Sinise Foundation; or the Bob Woodruff Foundation. These foundations assist American veterans and their families.
