Saramma Annamma Varghese was born on February 5, 1948 to the late Mr. Chacko Yohannan and Mrs. Annamma Yohannan in Koduvila, Kerala, India.
She completed her nursing degree in Rajasthan, Jaipur and continued her nursing career in New Delhi. On May 26, 1977, she married Mr. Kochikan Varghese and they migrated to the US in April 1982.
She worked as a nurse for 26 years in Philadelphia at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was dedicated to her patients, caring and tending to their needs as if they were her own family.
She was a devoted mother who spent countless hours reading the Bible and teaching her children to trust in God. She loved cooking and gardening, especially taking care of her karriapalas.
No matter how sick she was, she was always determined, in all areas of her life. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like.
She will always be remembered as a loving, strong, and caring person. She was a diligent, God fearing woman who cared deeply for her family. Her life was led by prayer. Even in midst of trials and tribulations, she turned to prayer, spending many hours a day fasting and praying for others.
She is survived by her husband (Kochikan Varghese), children (Mini, Sybil, and Jason), son in law (Jiji) daughter in law (Anchu), and grandchildren ( Nathan, Aiden, Christian, Ava, and Maria).
