Rose Marie Staso
August 4, 1943 – January 12, 2022 (78 years)
Rose Marie Staso was born in St. Clair PA on August 4, 1943. She was the daughter of Jerussel (nee Winisko) Paulin and Charles Paulin. Rose attended St. Clair High School and was an active member of the marching band. She graduated with Honors with the class of 1961.
Rose had a distinguished career in customer service. In her earlier years, she was employed by the PA Department of Health and Welfare, Harrisburg, PA. She subsequently lived in Linden, NJ and worked as a Sales Associate for both the Exxon and Gulf Corporations. After raising four children, Rose renewed her career and returned to work as a Sales Associate for Houston Wire & Cable, Exton PA. She retired in 1997.
Married 58 years to Charles Staso Jr. of West Chester PA, Rose was a loving and compassionate wife and mother who cherished entertaining friends and family. Rose was a proficient baker and cook, specializing in the preparation of ethnic foods. In Nana’s kitchen, you never left hungry. She loved to travel with friends and family; including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Disney, Russia, nearly all US States and many US National Parks. For many years Rose remained active at St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church. She treasured her time with friends and fellow parishioners. She especially enjoyed preparing and offering Russian treats at the Tea Table, during the church’s celebrated Annual Russian Festival.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jerussel Paulin, and sisters Mary Paulin Notarmaso and Patricia Paulin Strange.
Surviving in addition to her best friend and beloved husband, Charles, are her four children: Donna M. Bonsall Staso of Earlville MD, David C. Staso (Theresa Carbo Staso) of New London PA, Carol A. Ehlers Staso of Oxford PA, and Kevin A. Staso of Downingtown PA. Also, seven grandchildren; Mallory and Ryan Ehlers, Tristan, Dylan, Talia, Landon, and Carly Staso; one great grandson, Noah Ehlers Porreca, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at 9:00am Thursday January 20, 2022, at St. Michael’s The Archangel Russian Orthodox Church, located at 335 Fairmont Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19123. Requiem services begin at 10:00am. Interment will commence at St. Michael’s Cemetery in St. Clair PA, immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations can be made in Rose Marie Staso’s honor to St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church Philadelphia, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
