Rosalia Dacko, a long time resident of Philadelphia, died Christmas Day 2023. She was 98.
Born in Runhury, Ukraine, Rosalia was the daughter of the late Josef and Tatiana (Lubenko) Wilhaunuik. Her family emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia. She deeply loved her mother and Tatiana called her 'her right hand' since she was always by her side.
She worked as a seamstress for Rothchild Clothing Manufacturers for many years but motherhood was her vocation; she lived for her two children, George and Vera.
Rosalia was a faithful member of the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception since 1949. She loved her native country and was also proud to be an American citizen.
She and her late husband George had been married 62 years at the time of his passing in July of 2009. She is survived by her children, George and Vera.
Rosalia's viewing will be held on Thursday at 9 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosalia's memory may be made to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee (ZUDAK).
