Rachelamma Mathews, born in 1935 in Nelikammon, Kerala, lived a life defined by faith, courage, service, and quiet strength. She was a woman whose journey spanned continents and decades, and whose influence touched countless lives through compassion, perseverance, and unwavering love.
Rachelamma was married to Mathews Thomas and was the proud mother of two children: Thomas Mathews and Jegi Mathews. Family was the center of her life. With extraordinary devotion, she cared for her daughter for 20 years as she battled multiple sclerosis and was bedbound; never wavering in love or strength. She also lovingly cared for her husband during the last decade of his life while he was in poor health.
Those who knew Rachelamma will remember her ever-present smile, her positive outlook, and her ability to encourage others even in the midst of hardship. She was strong yet gentle, firm yet compassionate- an inspiration to all who crossed her path.
We will always remember her for her strength, determination, and free spirit. Though she endured many challenges in life, she faced them with grace, faith, and a smile that never faded.
We pray that her soul rests in eternal peace. Until we meet again in Heaven we praise God for her life- a life we choose to celebrate rather than mourn.
