it is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pawlina Darmohray, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Pawlina was born on May 6, 1925 in Swarytschiw, Donina, Ivano-Frankovsk, Ukraine. She emigrated to the United States from Bremerhaven, Germany in 1949 aboard the USS General Howze and arrived in New York to start her new life in Philadelphia, PA with her husband Wasyl and infant daughter Orysia along with her husband's family.
Pawlina was passionate about making pierogies at St. Mary's Church in Bristol, PA every Wednesday. She loved to embroider pillows and crochet blankets. She took great pride working in her garden; every summer you would be sent home home-grown vegetables. She had a green thumb when it came to her flowers.
Pawlina is survived by her daughters Orysia and Alexandra (Daniel); sons William (Joan) and Walter (Margaret); grandchildren Alicia (Mark), Jason (Lori), Nicholas (fiancée Stephanie), Vincent (girlfriend Megan), Justin and Katherine; great-grandchildren Anastasia, Alexis, Heather, Hunter and Natashia; and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday at 9 AM at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hope for Ukraine (HFU.org) or Healing Wound Foundation of the Archeparchy of Philadelphia.
