Patricia Carmody Johnson Obituary

Patricia Carmody Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, passed peacefully on May 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.

Born on June 11, 1939, Patricia lived a life defined by warmth, style, friendship, and a genuine love of people. She graduated from St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished her “sorority gals,” whose bond remained close throughout the years. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and natural ability to bring people together made her the heart of every gathering and a treasured friend to so many.

Patricia proudly raised her three children, Kenneth, Sharon, and Brian, who kept life busy, joyful, and full of activity. She loved cheering them on through every stage of life and created a home filled with love, laughter, and welcoming hospitality. Family and friends alike were always drawn to her warmth, her beautiful smile, and the joy she brought into every room.

She worked for many years in Philadelphia as a disability claims administrator until her retirement in 1997. Following retirement, Patricia and her beloved husband, Dixie, moved to Annapolis, where she began a second career as a legislative assistant at the Maryland General Assembly, a role she truly enjoyed and found deeply fulfilling.

After the passing of Dixie, Patricia was fortunate to find love again and, in 2018, married retired Navy Captain James Johnson. Together they shared many wonderful adventures, including evenings at the symphony, cheering at Navy football games, and traveling to places that brought them great joy and lasting memories. Whether hosting friends, attending social events, or simply sharing stories and laughter, Patricia had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and connected.

Patricia had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. A true social butterfly, she thrived in her waterfront condo community, where her warmth, humor, grace, and radiant smile made lasting impressions on everyone she met. She possessed a wonderful sense of style and believed every outfit deserved the perfect accessory — and, of course, the perfect lipstick.

An avid reader and lover of the beach and the water, Patricia especially enjoyed sailing and spending time by the waterfront she so adored. No matter the occasion, she carried herself with kindness, elegance, and a smile that could light up a room. Her laughter, grace, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Patricia is lovingly survived by her family: Sharon, Stan, Brian, Lisa, Katie, Sean, Colleen, Matt, Mike, Brian Jr., Malaena, Anne Marie, John, Maggie, Matthew, Kenneth, and JP. She treasured the time she spent with her family, and nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by those she loved most.

Above all, Patricia will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her legacy of warmth, elegance, laughter, compassion, and her unique ability to bring people together will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, Maryland 21409. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Dominic Church Cemetery, 8504 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
