Olga Wiley, a life long resident of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her residence at Paul's Run. She was 98.
Born in Philadelphia, Olga was the daughter of the late Onofry and Catherine (Zbirak) Sobchak; she was a 1941 graduate of Little Flower High School and earned a Music Scholarship from Immaculata College. When the Immaculata College Orchestra played at the Academy of Music, Olga was 1st violin.
After graduating from college, Olga worked for the Frankford Trust Company; she was asked if she intended to stay with them because they wanted to give her more training. Well, Olga must have liked working for them since she stayed with them all the way through their merger with M&T Bank; she retired as head teller after 58 years in banking.
Along the way she found time to marry James R. Wiley, Jr.; Olga and her World War 2 Navy vet raised two sons together; Jim died in 1990.
Olga is survived by her two sons, James J. Wiley and his wife Teresa and Joseph W. Wiley and his wife Juanita; her grandchildren: Joseph Wiley, Matthew Wiley, Michele McCabe, Christopher Wiley, Amanda Ellington, Brian Wiley, Sarah Banach and Carolyn Wiley. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren (with one more on the way) and nieces Catherine Senyk, Olga Gildein and Carol Ann Cole and nephew Jon March (Susan) and cousin Harry Koehnlein and his wife Anne. She was Aunt Olga to Jean, Andrea & Danielle March-Bowman. She is predeceased by her siblings: Anna March, Joseph Shehinsky and Russell Shehinsky.
Olga's main goal in life was to be loved by everyone she met. She achieved that goal beyond anyone's expectation.
