Born on February 8th, 1932 in Zboriv, Ternopil region, Ukraine, she was the daughter of Maria (Stojkewycz) and Mykola Procyk and had two brothers, Zenon and Patelemon (Vlodko). She grew up playing with her cousins Lukia Hryciw, Maria Hankewych and Ivanna Hankewycz. During World War II, her family was displaced to a refugee camp in Bayreuth, Germany, where she made many lifelong friends.
Post-war, her family emigrated to America and settled in Philadelphia, where she finished High School and a medical histology program, later working at Thomas Jefferson University hospital. She met her husband Osyp on one of her trips to the Ukrainian resort Soyuzivka in the Catskill Mountains of New York. They got married in April of 1958 and had 3 daughters, Tania, Marta and Lydia.
Nadia became a stay-at-home mom and was an excellent self-taught seamstress that sewed and knitted many matching outfits for her girls. Nadia also kept up the Ukrainian tradition of embroidery and taught herself how to play piano by ear. As her daughters grew older, she started a new career at Ukrainian Savings and Loan Association in NE Phildelphia, from which she eventually retired. Nadia volunteered for many community activities, including the Ukrainian Women’s Union (Coyuz Ukrainok) and was a lifelong member of Plast Ukrainian Scout Organization sorority Chortopolohy.
Once her daughters had children, she was a doting and loving grandmother. Her grandchildren looked forward to her Ukrainian home-cooking, especially her soup. She was known for her kindness and sweet demeanor and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Osyp Nimylowycz and her daughter and son-in-law Tania and David Levine. She is survived by her daughters Marta Fox, Lydia Sos and husband Yarko Sos, grandchildren Julian and Monica Levine, Alex and Michael Fox, and Natalie, Andrew and Stephanie Sos.
Nadia's family will greet friends on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM. Committal Prayers will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. A Memorial Luncheon will follow.
