Michelle A. Cantres, affectionately known as “Shell,” was born on December 30, 1958, in Luzerne County to Weido “Nazz” Barbini and Elaine Greenwald Barbini, whom she now joins in heaven. Michelle was the oldest of five. Unfortunately, Shell departed from this earth and gained her heavenly wings on February 25, 2025, at the youthful age of 66.
Michelle attended Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, P.A., where she received her diploma. Shortly after, Shell moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she began working for the Internal Revenue Service. She dedicated 30 years to her career as a government employee. Continuing to climb the professional ladder, Michelle’s most recent role with the IRS was as a Team Lead. Shell loved her job and took great pride in helping her coworkers achieve their goals and advance in their careers, just as she had.
Michelle accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was an active member of Pennepack Baptist Church. She loved helping to plan events for the church and was affectionately known as the “Party Planner.” Michelle was also well known as a DIE-HARD Dallas Cowboys fan who bled blue and white. She was loving, caring, and always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed a good shopping spree and cherished spending time with her loved ones.
Michelle is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Edgardo “Eddie” Cantres, whom she married in April 2017; her son, Reynaldo “Ray” Colon Jr.; stepson; Allen Alford (Natia Alford), stepdaughters, Nicole Mitchell, Christine Cantres and Tatyana Blackwell (Shaquille Blackwell); along with 16 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger siblings, Nadine Boyer (Bernie Boyer), Renee Barbini (Anthony Olean), Michael Barbini, and John Barbini, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Michelle's family invites friends to gather together to remember her on Friday at 10 AM at Pennepack Baptist Church. Prayers will be led by Pastor Jerry Fortunato at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the church graveyard.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE IS LIMITED PARKING AVAILABLE, BOTH ON THE CHURCH GROUNDS AS WELL AS ACROSS THE STREET AT THE CHURCH GRAVEYARD.
