Mary Kaczmar (nee Spack), 102, passed away on February 28, 2025, in Fairfield, Connecticut. Born April 17, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she lived a long and remarkable life filled with love, laughter and devotion to her family and faith.
A proud graduate of South Philadelphia High School, Mary went on to serve as a secretary for the military during World War II. She later worked for a bank vice president, demonstrating her dedication and strong work ethic throughout her career. During the war years, she also volunteered at the Stage Door Canteen, an experience she fondly recalled throughout her life.
Mary was a devout Russian Orthodox Catholic and attended services at St. Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia. Her faith was an integral part of her life and provided her with strength and guidance.
Above all else, Mary was devoted to her family. She took great joy in helping raise all of her grandchildren…first those in California and later those in Connecticut…creating cherished memories that will last for generations. She was quick to laugh and always made time for those around her. A natural hostess, she loved entertaining guests, ensuring everyone felt welcome and valued. Whether enjoying a summer tan or sharing an evening cocktail with friends and family, Mary embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Theodore Kaczmar as well as her sisters Irene Kavcsak and Emelie Albrecht. She is survived by her son and daughter, Theodore and Tamara, her grandchildren Lauren, Erica, Lara and Timothy and great grandchild Lyra Philips.
