Maria Jackiw, a longtime resident of the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, and recently of Hatfield, PA, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was 98.
Born in Hlyboka, Ukraine (Chernivtsi Oblast), she was the daughter of the late Dmytro and Anastasia (Pronyw) Dyriw. She and her family emigrated to the United States after World War 2 and settled in the Philadelphia area.
She worked for Cardone Industries for many years before retiring.
She is survived by her daughter Ann (Nadia) and son-in-law Roman (Mike) Peklak; her grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Jennifer, Gregory, Christina and Philip; her great-grandchildren: Ashar, Sloan, Adam, Aubrey, Kayla and Alexa; and her daughters-in-law Denise, Elizabeth and Teresa. She is predeceased by her husband Hryhoriy and her sons Ivan, Joseph and Bohdan.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday at 9 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Requiem Services will be sung at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
