Luba Kos Obituary

Luba Kos, a long time resident of New York, died Thursday, January 1, 2025.  She was 71.

Born in Passaic, NJ, Luba was the daughter of the late Roman and Anna (Nawodycz) Kos.  Her parents had emigrated to the United States in August of 1950 and settled in New Jersey.  The family moved to Philadelphia in the early 1960's and settled in the Fairmount section of the city.  Luba attended St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School; she was a graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls and she earned her BS in Engineering at Drexel University.

Luba moved to NYC in 1980 where she modeled for approximately seven years.  She was active with NYC Assn Life Underwriter’s and an active member of UIA where she worked tirelessly for many years as its Treasurer.

Luba gave many years of service to her professional organization, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, including serving as President of the Queens, New York City and New York State associations. Through her service she spent countless hours with her state and federal legislators to advocate for both her industry and her clients.

She is predeceased by her parents and her brother Zenon Kos (the late Joan DeFelice).

Her viewing will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM.  Requiem Services will be held at 11:30 AM.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
