Kathleen 'Kate' McShea Obituary

Kathleen “Kate” M. McShea, 76, wife of George P. McShea, Jr. passed peacefully on March 7, 2025 surrounded by beloved family whom take solace in the fact she is now with her beloved daughter Elizabeth.

Kate was the oldest of three children to the late John and Margeret M. Hazlett.  She grew up in northeast Philadelphia where she attended Saint Mary’s Academy.

Over the course of her 58+ years of marriage to George they began a life-long journey which led them to live in such places as Riverton, NJ, Clinton Corner’s NY, St. Croix, USVI, Portland, OR, Placentia, CA, Houston, TX and most recently Oxford, PA.

Kate had many hobbies such as bowling, scrap booking, beading, as well as being an avid reader, enjoyed movies but her most favorite hobby were the endless trips across the globe with travel and life companion George. These trips and her life’s moments were normally captured through Kate’s camera which accompanied them in their travels.

Kate felt blessed and loved by her family; sister Patricia (Edward) Carothers, brother John (Donna) Hazlett, George’s entire family inclusive of her 31 nieces and nephews.

The center of Kate’s world though were her children George (Mary), Elizabeth, Patrick (Jill) and her grand babies Connor, Ryan, Keegan, Charlie and Catherine.

Kate’s funeral mass will be held on March 17, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Friends and family may call from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
