Katherine Semen, a resident of the Birches of Harleysville, died Friday, August 20, 2021. She was 100.
Born in Philadelphia on May 15, 1921, Katherine was the daughter of the late Peter and Paraskevia (Mazur) Leszak. One of five children, she returned to Ukraine with her parents as a young child and was able to get back to the United States with her sister Anna before the start of World War II.
She worked as a sewing machine operator for a clothing manufacturer for many years before retiring.
Katherine is predeceased by her husband, John Semen (John died in 1977). She is survived by her sister, Julie Komorenko of Ukraine and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday at 9 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
