Katherine M. Macelko

Katherine M. Macelko, a longtime resident of Berks County, died Thursday, April 2, 2026.  She was 41.  Born in Penn Wynne, Katherine was a daughter of Walter and the late Joyce (nee Karbowsky) Macelko.

Katherine had a heart of gold. She was loyal, loving, and generous.  She cared deeply for her family, especially her goddaughter Greenly.  She would go above and beyond to help anyone. Throughout High School Katherine played field hockey, and ran track. 

 After graduating from college, she worked for many years as an Environmental Scientist helping to make the world around her better for everyone.  She was an amazing artist, and had an unremarkable skill for gardening.  She enjoyed every possible moment surrounding herself with nature, surfing in the ocean and always took time to appreciate the simple things that the world around her had to offer.  Katherine will be deeply missed.

Katherine is survived by her father, Walter Macelko; her sister, Melanie Pierce and her husband Josh and her niece Greenly as well as her Uncle and Aunt Michael and Anna Macelko and their children.
