Kateryna Iwaskiw, a longtime resident of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, March 22, 2023. She was 93.
Born in Sytniaky, Ukraine, Kateryna was the daughter of the late Prokop and Anna (Timoshenko) Zacharczenko.
She emigrated to the United States after World War 2 and the family settled in the Northern Liberties section of the city. Kateryna worked for many years as an assembler tech for an electronics firm for many years before retiring.
Predeceased by her husband Hryhorij, she is survived by her sons, Jurij Iwaskiw and his wife Oksana and Andrij Iwaskiw. She is also survived by her grandchildren: DeAnna (Ryan) Iwaskiw, Andrew (Kayla) Iwaskiw and Kristina Iwaskiw; her greatgrandchildren: Narah and Mila; and her sisters: Anna Dmytryshyn and Nadia 'Nancy' Smerechenski. She is also predeceased by her brother, Mykola Zacharczenko and her sister, Antonia Brozda.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
