Jurij Podolak Obituary

Jurij Podolak, age 56, passed away Friday, Septemeber 11, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Maggie Janelli, from Zakopane, Poland.  Dear son of Eugenia and the late Myroslaw Podolak; brother of Oksana Weremijenko (Nicholas) and uncle to Roman Weremijenko.  Nephew and godson of Leo Dombchewskyj (Marusia); cousin of Olenka, Dr. Orest and Arianna and nephew of Bohdan Dombchewskyj (Hanya).  Devoted step father to Philip Wisniewski (Brenda) and adoring grandfather to Lara and Boden Wisniewski.

Jurij was Maggie's much-loved husband, partner and friend for almost 30 years.  He studied at Penn State and Drexel University.  An architectural engineer, inventor, environmentalist and animal lover.  He devoted his life to create a healthy environment for people to live in.  His vented facades are to neutralize deadly nitrogen oxide (smog) in the atmosphere, thus Vented Facades Engineering.

He was also a loyal Republican and ran twice for the United States Congress from 11th District of Pennsylvania.

He will be deeply missed by Maggie, family, friends and neighbors.

Jurij's family will greet friends on Thursday starting at 11 AM at St. Michael The Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 12 noon.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.

Please, in lieu of flowers, donate to Jurij’s Favorite Charity - Humane Society or to:  Plast Philadelphia

***During this time of the coronavirus, we are being asked to practice social distancing and limiting the size of gatherings.  Some may wish to attend the visitation and not remain for the service; others may wish to join us in prayer at the cemetery; others may just wish to pray for Jurij during this time.  We are grateful for all prayers for Jurij, whether in attendance or not.  It is an act of Christian love and selflessness to distance ourselves from one another in order to protect those who maybe more vulnerable to this aggressive virus and to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
