Joseph D. Forbes passed away suddenly after a brief battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his residence. He was 75.
Joe was born in Philadelphia on December 26, 1944 to the late Joseph and Elsie (Armstrong) Forbes. He graduated from Mastbaum High Shool in 1962. Joe worked for the family roofing company for ten years, and then was employed by Septa as a mechanic for 30 years. He was an avid member of the Holmesburg Shooting Range and Pistol People.
Joe was the beloved husband of 53 years to Florence (Bloomer) Forbes; devoted father to Danielle, Rachel (Jon), and Meghan (Mike); loving uncle to Christine; dear Pop Pop to Lauryn, Sara, Ryan, Caitlin, Allison, Shannon, Jonathan and Elsie; brother to Doris Jeitner; brother-in-law to Charlotte Miller and George Taragna (Ethel); and survived by many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their condolences to the family on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Memorial Church of St. Luke, 1946 Welsh Road, Philadelphia, PA 19115. Funeral Service and interment will be private.
Covid-19 protocols will be in place: masks are required, and social distancing will be enforced.
