John Motchos, Jr., a life long resident of Philadelphia, died suddenly at his residence. He was 83. John was the son of the late John Motchos, Sr. and Mary Pidlisny Motchos.
He grew up in the Feltonville section of the city and attended McClure Elementary School and Clara Barton Middle School; he was a 1956 graduate of Olney High School.
John served in the US Navy and was discharged in 1963 with the rank of Radarman 2nd Class; he was employed as a machine press operator for Weber Display & Packaging, a corrugated box manufacturing company for 38 years and retired in 2003.
He and his wife Evelyn purchased a Victorian style cottage in 1975 in Perkasie Park; he served on the board of directors and was the association president for 5 to 6 years.
John was a religious man; he was active at his churches: Calvary Memorial Church and Christian Life Center. He enjoyed Bible studies and the fellowship of his friends at church.
John was also a gamer; he played Mahjong on his computer and did the NY Times and Inquirer crossword puzzles every day.
John was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Drumm Motchos; loving father of Joan and Jean Null (the late Kevin) and dear grandfather of Chris, Erin, Kevin Jr, Laura and Jessica and great grandfather of Ceres Jane and Genevieve Alexa. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Motchos and many cousins.
Relatives and friends will gather Saturday at Perkasie Park, 200 S 9th St, Perkasie, PA 18944 at 11 AM for a Memorial Service.
