In Loving Memory of Joanne Leader Williams
December 12, 1938 – April 29, 2025
Joanne Leader Williams, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and generous soul, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 29, 2025, after a courageous ten-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 86.
Joanne was born on December 12, 1938, to Paul Leader and Mary McDowell. She grew up on the leader farm, where she developed a strong work ethic that would define her life. One of her greatest childhood joys was her horse, Pal, who she loved to ride across the fields.
She was one of four sisters and is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nancy and Linda. She is survived by her youngest sister, Jane.
Joanne was married to the love of her life, Bob Williams, who preceded her in death in 2023. She absolutely adored Bob, and together they shared a strong and loving partnership—whether working side by side at their store, Williams Brothers Stationers, or simply tending to the lawn and garden while barbequing in their backyard. They loved being together in all things and were genuine soulmates.
Joanne’s energy and drive was unmatched. She never stopped giving her time, her effort, and her heart. Whether it was supporting her children, helping with PTO events, contributing to her community, or running the store, she poured herself fully into every role she held.
Together, she and Bob raised two daughters, Abbie Dougherty (married to Bill Dougherty) and Jen Sinisi (married to John Sinisi), and built a life filled with care, laughter, and meaningful traditions. Joanne was also a devoted and loving grandmother to Nicole, Jesse, Justin (married to Bridget), and Zack.
As a stay-at-home mom for many years, Joanne made every season magical. At Easter, she crafted elaborate “Easter webs”—long strings of yarn winding through the house, guiding her daughters on an exciting journey to discover their baskets. Each Christmas, she lovingly set up an intricate Christmas village, complete with glowing lights and a train winding around the display, creating a cozy world of wonder in her loving home.
Joanne also threw unforgettable birthday parties for her daughters. One especially memorable celebration began with handmade carnival tickets as invitations and unfolded into a full backyard carnival experience—complete with multiple themed stations and carnival games she created herself. She brought that same level of imagination, care, and joy to everything she did.
She was a tireless volunteer and a natural creator. At Churchville Elementary School, she made hundreds of costumes for the annual carnival, helping children become pirates, princesses, fairies, and more—with detailed accessories and joyful face paint applied by hand.
Joanne also worked closely with life skills students, forming deep and lasting bonds with the children she supported. Her patience, encouragement, and care helped them grow in confidence and ability, and her impact was remembered for years to come.
In the later years of her career, Joanne worked alongside Bob at their family business, Williams Brothers Stationers. She loved every aspect of the work—attending trade shows, designing holiday displays, managing business tasks, and helping customers. With her care and attention, the store became a trusted and well-loved part of the community.
Joanne and Bob also cherished their family vacations, especially their annual trips to Ocean City, New Jersey with Abbie and Jen. Time spent on the boardwalk and beach became lasting memories for them all. In their later years, their favorite destination was Disney World, where Joanne delighted in every moment. Her favorite ride was It’s a Small World, which she insisted on riding multiple times each trip—enchanted by its charm and message of unity.
Joanne’s life was defined by creativity, compassion, hard work, and deep love—for her family and her community, and the joy of simple, shared moments. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the people she touched, and the life she built so thoughtfully.
She is survived by her two daughters and their families, who will carry forward her love, her memory, and her generous spirit of giving.
Relatives and friends are invited to share condolences with Joanne's family on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10 - 11 am, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 877 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment to follow at Wm. Penn Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
