Joan G. Rizzo

Joan G. Rizzo, a resident of Northeast Philadelphia for over 40 years, died Sunday, August 19, 2018.  She was 77.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Joan was the daughter of the late Ludovico and Theresa (Campana) Del Franco.  She was a graduate of Clara Barton High School; she was married to John Gerardi from 1960 to 1969 and together they ran a beauty parlor in Brooklyn; Joan later took on a position with a brokerage firm in New York City.  She moved to her current home in 1976 and found work with Russell Glass Company where she met Donald M. Rizzo.  Joan and Don married in 1977.  Her last occupation was as store manager for Dollar Store in the Rhawnhurst section of the city.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Lisa Smith and her husband Philip Smith, Sr.; her grandchildren Philip Smith, Jr. and Christina Joan Smith; her sister Norma Del Franco and her brother Douglas Del Franco.  She is predeceased by her husband Don who died in 2013 and other siblings.

A Memorial Life Celebration in Joan's memory will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 2 PM to 6 PM at Gearo's Grill, 1913 Welsh Road Philadelphia, PA 19115.  Please email Lisa at: lasmith66@aol.com
