Jerry joined the United States Army in June of 1969; he saw duty in Viet Nam with the 25th Infantry Division 2/27 Wolfhounds, was injured with multiple shrapnel rounds for which he received the Purple Heart and spent time in the Philadelphia VA Medical Hospital. He later served with Troop E, 15th Calvary Division before he was discharged with the rank of Specialist 4 in May of 1971.
Jerry was a longtime member of the Ukrainian American Citizens Club; he also worked there as a bartender and was stewart for the club for many years.
He is survived by his brother William and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Walter and sister Sabina Santiago (the late Felix).
