Jaroslaw (Slavko) Kolodij, age 94, of Jenkintown, PA, passed on September 11, 2021. Dear husband of Stefania (nee Kowalyshyn). Beloved father of Irene, Myron (+ Marusia), Orest, Nestor (+Deborah) and Borys (+Lora). Loving grandfather of Kristine (+Michael), Katherine (+Josef), Nina, Karen Ann, Andrew, and Julia.
He was born on November 7,1926, in Kozova (Ternopil oblast), Ukraine, to Vasyl and Maria (nee Majsakovska).
He was a veteran of the Ukrainian National Army. After World War II, he settled in England and married Stefania. Later they emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia. Slavko took an active part in the Ukrainian community, was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center, Ukrainian Sports Center Tryzub, and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
Slavko was a Ukrainian patriot. He loved Ukraine dearly but was thankful for his life in America and the wonderful family that love him. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday (September 15, 2021) at 9:00AM followed by a Panakhyda and Requiem Liturgy at 10:00AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1013 Fox Chase Rd, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Internment at. St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 438 Cedar Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027.
