Iwanna Tymczuk (Wolaniuk), 91, of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, 2022, just two days shy of her 92nd Birthday.

Iwanna was born on January 29, 1930 in Hai-Starobrids’ki, district of Brody, Ukraine to Kyrylo and Paraskiewa (Zwarich) Wolaniuk.

During WW2, Iwanna was forced to work in Germany at a factory manufacturing railroad equipment.  After the war, Iwanna studied dressmaking during her stay at the International Refugee Organization – US Zone Camp in Aschaffenburg Germany.  She had a career as a seamstress manufacturing women’s fashion.

She met her future husband, Nick Tymczuk, at the camp but did not marry him until after she immigrated to United States with her parents in 1951, all sponsored by her younger brother Walter Wolaniuk.

On November 15th, 1952, Iwanna married Nick Tymczuk in Philadelphia.  She proudly became a US Citizen on August 12,1964.

Iwanna was preceded in death by her husband Nick Tymczuk, her parents Kyrylo and Paraskiewa (Zwarich), her oldest brother Stephan, her younger brother Walter, her sister Stefanka Wolaniuk and her niece Natalie (Wolaniuk) Bitny.  She is survived by her sister-in-law and caregiver Roxanne Wolaniuk, her nephew/godson Walter Wolaniuk Jr., his wife Rosemary, and their son Walter William, her nephew Anatoli Bitny, her niece Paulina Kulynych, her husband Myhailo, and their sons Andrij, Markian, and Taras.
