Irene Ihnatiuk passed away peacefully at home in Philadelphia on Friday, January 8, 2021, surrounded by her family. Irene had just turned 70 years old and is predeceased by her mother and father, Anna and Iwan Ihnatiuk. She was a loving and devoted sister to brothers Raymond Ihnatiuk and John Kalitan (Marlyn), and a devoted niece to her Aunt Maria and late Uncle Ewhen Ostapowycz. She was a caring Godmother and Aunt to Kimberly Kalitan-Greenberg (Adam Greenberg) and their daughter Brooke. Irene was Godmother and Cousin to Sonia Langdon (Brian) and their children Kira and Kellan. She is predeceased by her Cousin Christine Ftomyn and will be missed by her Cousins Steve and Stefan Ftomyn, and Vera Hood (Shawn) and their children Shawn and Alexander.
Irene was born in Philadelphia and attended Immaculate Conception, then went on to St. Basil's grade schools. She graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and then earned an Associate's Degree from Pierce College. After graduation she went to work for Rohm and Haas in the capacity of Manager of the secretarial pool.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's memory may be made to Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1206 Valley Road, Melrose Park, PA 19027.
Due to restrictions in place because of Covid-19, the family has chosen to have private services for Irene, with private interment.
