Helen Karnick (nee Kachmarchik) 100, of Rydal Park Retirement Residence and formally from Wyncote, PA, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2020. Beloved wife of the late John M. Karnick.
Dear sister of Anthony Kasmer. She was preceded in death by her sisters Anna Alexandroff and Olga K. Shast, and also by her brother Paul Kasmer. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her great-great nieces and nephews.
Helen’s goal was to reach 100 years and she did so on December 4, 2019. A birthday celebration dinner was had with family and friends.
Helen was an employee of Strawbridge & Clothier for 25 years in management. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 17 years working on Blood Mobiles and served on the Board of Eastern Montgomery County Red Cross for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Michael Russian Orthodox Church and served on the church council for 50 years. Helen was a choir member for 77 years.
***During this time of the coronavirus, we are being asked to practice social distancing and limiting the size of gatherings. VISITATION IS BEING LIMITED TO FAMILY ONLY. You may wish to join us in prayer at the cemetery or pray for Helen at home during this time. We are grateful for all your prayers for Helen, whether in attendance or not. It is an act of Christian love and selflessness to distance ourselves from one and other in order to protect those who maybe more vulnerable to this aggressive virus and to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
Visitation FOR FAMILY ONLY begins at 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home. The Committal Service for Helen will be at Oakland Cemetery, Adams & Ramona Avenues, Philadelphia, PA, in section K, beginning at approximately 10:30 AM. Services will be officiated by Fr. Raymond Martin Browne, Pastor of St. Mark’s Orthodox Church. (addresses below)
