Helen Baranackie Obituary

Helen Baranackie, a longtime resident of Northeast Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 22, 2020.  She was 89.

Helen Alexis Baranackie was born January 29, 1931 to Catherine and Alexy Kozlow in Philadelphia.  She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Northern Liberties, and graduated from Girls High in June, 1948.

She married Leon J. Baranackie in September, 1950 and traveled to Army bases in the US and Germany for over 20 years as his spouse. 

Helen was an extraordinary seamstress and many people received the beautiful afghans that she crocheted.  She loved her family and ice cream in equal measure.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown PA at 11:30 AM.   All are invited to attend the ceremony and luncheon immediately following at Greystone Inn, 552 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown PA.

Helen is survived by her children: Kathryn Baranackie and Anthony A. Baranackie (Pamela).  She is predeceased by her husband Leon (Leon died in 2010) and her son Leon J. Baranackie, Jr. (Sharon).
