George Sinitsky, a resident of Woodbury, New Jersey for over 50 years, died suddenly on Monday at the University of Pennsylvania Hosptial. He was 93.
Born in St. Clair, PA, George was a son of the late Michael and Tekla (Kohudic) Sinitsky. He joined the United States Marine Corps out of high school where he served as an Embassy Guard at the US Embassy in Bern, Switzerland during the Korean War. He left the military after a few enlistments with the Marines and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as Security Police at Pleiku and Phan Rang air bases in Viet Nam. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 as a Tech Sergeant after 21 years with the combined services.
After his departure from the military, George was employed in security Glassboro State University (now Rowan University) until his retirement.
George married Jean Klosuk in 1977; they had met at their church, St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, in Philadelphia. They had been married for 46 years at the time of Jean's passing in 2023. George had two daughters, Teresa and Tanya, from a previous marriage.
George was a member of the Vietnam Security Police Association and of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society. He also was Past Commander of Gloucester County, Chapter # 64, of Disabled Veterans of America; the organization was on hand for the return home of the USS New Jersey to its berth in Camden, NJ.
George is survived by nieces and nephews and is predeceased by his wife Jean, his brother William Sinitsky (Valentina) and his sister Anne Dantinne (the late David).
His viewing will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM at Our Lady Russian Orthodox Church. Panachida Prayers will be sung at 7:30 PM. Requiem Services will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery preceded by Military Honors and committal prayers.
