George R. Jablokow

George R. Jablokow, a resident of Huntingdon Valley since 1968, died at his residence on Sunday, August 30, 2026.  He was 96.

Born in Kharkov, Ukraine, George was a son of the late Roman and Daria (Semeijkin) Jablokow.  He emigrated to the United States with his family, arriving in Boston, MA in August of 1950.  The family settled in Philadelphia in the Northern Liberties section of the city.  After graduating high school, George worked as a truck driver for a stone quarry before joining the US Army in 1952; he was discharged as a Corporal after serving with Battery C of the 631st Armored Field Artillery Battalion stationed in Germany.  George later attended Drexel University and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1961 and was employed with United Engineers until he retired. 

George was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady, Joy of All Sorrows Russian Orthodox Church in Fairmount and served as Starosta of the church for many years.

George is predeceased by his wife Katharina (nee Ratkin) who died in September of 2025 after 71 years of marriage (they met at a dance at Rova Farms in Jackson Township, NJ).  He is survived by his children: Nina Rapak and her husband Thomas Rapak; Andrei Jablokow and his wife Kathryn; and Lena Drach and her husband Gregory Drach.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicholas Rapak, Deanna Yerg (Brett), Victoria Rapak (Nicholas Arbaugh), Stefan Jablokow, Peter Jablokow, Alexander Drach (Brianna), Larissa Drach and Daniel Drach as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday 6:30 PM to 8 PM at Our Lady, Joy of All Sorrows Russian Orthodox Church.  Panikhida Prayers will be sung at 7 PM.  George's funeral will be held on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 AM with Requiem Services sung at 9 AM.  Committal Prayers will be sung at St. Vladimir Russian Orthodox Cemetery.
