I have some really sad news today.
On March 9th, 2021, at approx 11:30 AM, my Father and Grandfather George (Hryhorij) Bilous fell Asleep in the LORD. He was honored by God's grace to experience a peaceful departure from our earth after living a full, rich, and successful, self directed life to a wise old age of 98 years of life + 7 months.
He died as he planned, within all the comforts of his home about him, to include his bed. He had lost weight, lots of energy and could not stand or sit on his own... was not eating or drinking.
That Tuesday morning, I fixed up his bed, covered him up, and he took a nap. I checked on him and he was deep in sleep. By 11:00 AM Dad was still comfortably asleep. I checked on him at 1130 and he had changed; he had passed away.
People who knew him had the following kind words to say:
Dr. Bohdan Martinech said, "Hryhorij, he was a nice man." That, "He could have been my own father." In using one word of explanation, Dr. Bohdan said, "HE was a Success."
It is true. In 1958 Dad arrived in Baltimore, MD with empty pockets. On his knees, he kissed the ground and went to work. No aid, no welfare. He raised a family, educated them, grew a Church, helped relatives in Ukraine, became a technical specialist, and loved God, wife, kids, and his native Ukraine with passion and compassion.
The Funeral director Nasevich said, "people are lucky when they pass away at home, instead of the alternatives."
A Ukrainian lady (Tania) who is a care giver, and likes Dad's chicken eggs said, "people who have a peaceful passing, especially in their sleep, (a gentle death - lehka smertj,) they have achieved and earned, God's blessing.
May his soul remain with our Lords blessings and in our memories for eternity. May his, George's life be in our Memories to Eternally, from generation to generation !!!
Вічна йому Пам'ять, з роду в рід!!!
I feel like half of me is gone, vanished. HE was, by far, 7 times the better half of me..., in miles.
Note: In lieu of flowers, please direct gifts to the Kapela Bandurist org. from Detroit Michigan. Indicate your wish to support the "Bandura teaching summer camp for youth project." The teaching project's web page is referenced under the primary web page of BANDURA.ORG
