After a long and full life, Gail Marie Corn, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday April 18, 2022. She was 79 years old.
Gail was born during World War II on March 16, 1943 to Elmer A. Schmidt and Marie M. Schuler in Philadelphia, PA. Gail spent most of her childhood in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia until she moved to Rydal, PA when she was 12 years old. After graduating from Abington High School, Gail attended Lock Haven University earning a bachelor’s degree in education. Gail then moved to Pittsburgh where she graduated with honors from Duquesne University with a master's degree in education.
Gail worked as an elementary school teacher in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey for many years. In 1973, Gail married her husband William and they had one daughter named Jocelyn. Gail became a homemaker but in 1987 she went to work as a cook until she retired in 2007.
In her retirement, Gail enjoyed going to the movies and visiting Atlantic City to walk on the boardwalk. Gail loved to eat different foods (especially her desert) and trying out new restaurants. After her granddaughter was born, Gail loved to spend time with her only grandchild.
Gail was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Jocelyn, her son-in-law Sebastian, her granddaughter Eva and her twin sister Elma.
Services will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2022 and will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family, requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
