Edith was a lifelong Girl Scout. She was a Brownie troop leader, a traveling day camp leader, and quite literally helped forge the paths at Shelly Ridge. She was a member of the Treefoil Society and received the William Penn Award. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and sang in her church choir at Belfield Avenue EUB Church. She graduated from Germantown High School in 1946, and was a member of the National Honor Society. In the early 1960’s, Edith had her “ups and downs” as an elevator operator at Strawbridge and Clothier in Center City Philadelphia. Edith had a great love of reading, and doing her crossword puzzles (in pen!) Everyone wanted her on their team for game night, as she excelled at Trivial Pursuit. Edith enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Dancing with the Stars with her late husband, John. They were also avid Flyers fans, and had season tickets for many seasons. Vacations at the Jersey Shore were a staple, enjoying Ocean City, North Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest. Edith loved dogs, especially her poodles, Coco and Remi. She also loved being introduced to birding and working with her longtime friend, Ruth. Being outdoors in some capacity was something she enjoyed greatly. When she first moved to Paul’s Run, she enjoyed rearranging their library “properly”, as she would put it, and eventually ended up running the library. She was also a member of their book club. She lived a full life and will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.

I give you this one thought to keep

I am with you still, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone

I am with you still, in each new dawn.
