Doris McBride, a longtime resident of the Bustleton section of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was 84.
Born and raised in Port Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Emily Eckert. Doris graduated from high school and soon after married her husband of 64 years, Gerald McBride. She returned to school to become certified in medical coding. She had a successful 35 year career at Northeastern Hospital, where she started in the medical records department and with several promotions completed her career as a medical auditor. Doris enjoyed the beach, the pool and her flower garden. But her real love was her family. She dedicated herself to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris is predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald McBride. She is survived by her children: Patricia Kieba (Joseph), Kathleen Reid, Geraldine McGurk (John) and Christopher McBride; she is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristen Ruby (Dustin), Joseph Kieba, Lauren Reid and Lance McGurk as well as her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Kieba and Remy Ruby. Doris was the sister of Donald (Deb) and the late Al (Millie), Bill (Ceclie), Richie (Gen), Emma and Dot (Charlie) and the sister-in-law of Elaine Pella and the late Thomas, Joseph, Jack and Jimmy.
Relatives and friends can greet her family on Thursday at 9 AM at Maternity BVM Roman Catholic Church with her Funeral Mass beginning at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School.
