David Joseph Doherty

David Joseph Doherty, born July 4, 1957, in Philadelphia, son of Florence and William White Jr., passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 68.  He is survived by his four children Timothy Billett, Kelly Billett (Travis), Johnathan Billett (Katie) and Heather Fink née Doherty (Timothy) as well as nine grandchildren Maryssa, Malayna, Carter, Raegan, Gavin, Colt, Griffin, Ozden, Paige and with another expected early next year.

Dave served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Butte, after which he moved to Centre County and lived there for several decades.  Here he started his family and opened Dave’s Cuisine and Pizzeria, earning the name “Pizza Dave”. He became known for his cheesesteaks and “The Dave Special”.

Later in life Dave returned to Philadelphia where he began working as a case manager with PVMSEC (Philadelphia Veterans & Multi-Service Education Center), a veteran program.  In this role he was able to help fellow veterans with obtaining job skills, housing, and other resources.

Dave was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Dave loved to talk to anyone about NCIS, Law & Order, or what was on the local news.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, December 22, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at Fletcher Nasevich Funeral Home in Philadelphpa, PA.  A memorial service will be held in the Milesburg area at a later date.  If you’d like to be made aware of those arrangements, please contact Heather Fink at heatherfink001@gmail.com.
