Daria Hanuszczak Obituary

Daria (Darika) Hanuszczak, age 62 of Philadelphia, Pa went home too early to be with the Lord on April 30, 2022. Daria was born on July 8, 1959 to the late Walter and Paraskewia Hanuszczak (nee Mysak).

Daria was the loving mother of three children Thomas Broscius (Kaitlynn), Anthony Broscius (Tamika), and Bianca Broscius Litnak (Frank).  Daria was an amazing grandmother to six incredible grandchildren she loved with all her heart: Jakub, Avery, Deshawn, Levi, Kayla and Abby. She has left behind two sisters, Ann Marie (Marika) Johnson (nee Hanuszczak) and Helena Fields (nee Hanuszczak).  She was the beloved sister of the late Peter (Bohdan) Hanuszczak and Roman Hanuszczak.

Daria was vibrant and full of life.  Anyone that knew her would say she had a heart of gold, and opened it up to anyone that needed it.  Daria had a way of making everyone feel welcome and a part of her family, even if you just met her.  She had a great sense of humor, and one would say she should have gone into comedy because you could always count on something funny coming off her lips.  Daria was a loyal friend and sister.  She was very empathetic and loving towards everyone in her reach.  She always had a way of making you feel good and provided a positive outlook when someone needed it.

Daria attended St. Basil's grade school before she went on to Cardinal Dougherty High School and graduated in 1977.  Daria was a very hard worker and prided herself on her work ethic.  It didn't matter what she did, she always gave 100%.  Daria dedicated her life to working with disabled adults and children.  She had a passion for helping the less fortunate and enjoyed the time she spent working at Woods Services helping those with disabilities.  She cared about each and every one of their residents and worked with them to achieve their dreams.

When the time came to become a care giver to her mother, she did so without complaint.  Daria was very close to her mother, so when she passed in 2013 Daria was devastated and struggled with the loss of her mother.  A  few years later Daria became ill herself, and has been battling with Pulmonary Fibrosis for the last five years.  Daria left us too early and will be missed by her family and friends.

Her family will greet friends at 9 AM at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM.  Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
