Catherine Jankowski

Catherine (Kasia) Jankowski nee Dubil passed away on August 22, 2026.  She was 100 years old and a devoted mother of 2, grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 13. 

Kasia was born July 5, 1926 in Yavoriv, Ukraine to Mychajlo and Sophia Dubil.  Her mother died in childbirth with her youngest brother so she became the caregiver for all her siblings at the age of 12.  Two years later, the family relocated to Poland. 

On December 26, 1948, Kasia married Kazimierz Jankowski in Tomaszow-Mazowiecki, Poland.  Soon after in 1949, they welcomed their son Marcin and in 1951 their daughter Jolanta. 

Through contacts with family already in the United States, they were granted sponsorship and on November 23, 1965, they emigrated to America and settled near family in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia.  They built a life in the USA while cleaning offices in Downtown Philadelphia.  Sadly in late 1974, Kazimierz  passed away.  Kasia continued working while helping babysit her young grandchildren.  She retired in 1993.  In 1999, she proudly became a US citizen. 

Kasia was a devout Catholic and was a pillar of strength, selflessness and resilience.  She was always cheerful, energetic and willing to help family, friends and neighbors.  She was deeply devoted to her family and loved unconditionally.  When her oldest great grandchildren were born, she didn’t want to see them go to daycare so she welcomed them all in turn to what she affectionately called Baba Kasia’s day care. 

Kasia was predeceased in death by her husband, parents and her siblings John, Semen, Roman, Justyna and Stefan.  She is survived by her son Marcin (Jadwiga), and her daughter Jolanta (the late George).

Loving baba of Chrystyna (the late Daniel), Marcin (Meredith), late Jurij, Stephania Kushnir (Jason), Jessica Vanetesse (Tony) and her sister-in-law Sonia Dubil. 

Cherished Babcia of Natalie, Nicholas and Julia Conway; Arianna, Alexa, Christian and Adalyn Kushnir; Connor, Matthew, Olivia and Sofie Jankowski; and Luke and Cole Vanetesse.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the US and UK.

Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 9:30 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.  Requiem Services will be sung at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
