Anna Macelko, a resident of Feasterville, PA since 1970, died at her home. She was 96.
Born in Szczawne, (Sanok; Lemkivshchyna) Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Tatianna (Melnic) Uhryn. During World War II, she was taken to Germany to work on a farm; after the war, she immigrated to Huddersfield, England where she married Michael Macelko in 1951. With the help of the sponsorship of Anna Barniak, the family immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Allentown, PA. They later moved to the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia where they were parishioners of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. In the late 1950's, they relocated to the Logan section of the city where they attended Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church. After moving to Feasterville, Anna joined St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Anna is survived by her sons: Walter A. Macelko (the late Joyce) and Michael Macelko, Jr. (Anne Marie); her grandchildren: Melanie Pierce (Josh), Katherine Macelko, Nicholas Macelko and Nina Macelko; her great-granddaughter, Greenly Pierce; and a sister, Helen. She is predeceased by her husband Michael who died in 1995.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, JANUARY 25, 2020, at 9:30 AM at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, Warrington, PA. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
