Anna Krawchuk of the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia died Thursday April 30, 2020 at her residence. She was 99.
Before moving to Philadelphia, Anna was employed at a silk factory in Northampton, PA. She loved to dance and went often to the dance hall near where she lived; she enjoyed baking and cooking especially during the Christmas and Easter holidays when she would play hostess for her family. Anna was extremely devoted to her church, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where she helped with making pierogies weekly to help the church with its expenses. She also loved to gamble (and to win) for fun.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Donna Stanczyk (Bohdan), Richard John Singer (Jim Hynes) and Michael Singer; her great-grandchildren: William Stanczyk, Kathryn Stanczyk, Jocelyn Singer and Zachary Singer; her sister Sophie Pachinka; and her best friend Tony Tzysko. She is predeceased by her husband John Krawchuk (John died in 1990), her daughter Maryann Singer (the late Richard), and siblings Mary Mayorak, Margie Matika, Helen Novak, Rosie Zwiryk and Katie Terlesky.
Her viewing and Requiem Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
