Andrew Kapustiak, a longtime resident of the Logan area of Philadelphia, died Monday, December 25, 2023. He was 78.
Born in Minswire, Germany, Andy emigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings.
Drafted into the US Army in 1965, Andy served with the 9th Infantry Division and was discharged in 1967 with the rank of SP5 and a Purple Heart on his chest.
He joined the USPS and retired as a supervisor.
Andy was an active member of the Ukrainian American Citizens Association, Tryzub Sports Club, Ukrainian-American Veterans (Post 1) and was Post Commander of Disabled American Veterans (DAV), PA Chapter 6.
After his retirement he also took an active role in his Army unit (F Troop, 17th Cavalry, 196th LB) reunions. Andy also loved to travel; he would have two adventures a year ranging from the Caribbean to Hong Kong, Fiji, Australia and South Africa to name a few.
Andy is survived by his brothers: Ivan and Stefan and is predeceased by his parents and brothers Wasyl, Gregory and Petro. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephew and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11 AM at the Fletcher-Nasevich Funeral Home. Requiem Services will be sung at 12 noon. Interment will be private.
