Alexander Horjatschun Obituary

Alexander (Al) Horjatschun, age 83, of Phoenix, AZ formally of Quakertown, PA, Ansonia CT and Stratford, CT passed away peacefully at home with his loving family around him.  He was born in Smile, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine.

Beloved husband of Olga (Rosola) Horjatschun, to whom he was married for over 53 years.  He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, Bridgeport, CT where he was a competitive swimmer and diver. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a navigator on the U.S.S. Constellation.  Al enjoyed fishing, skiing and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, UCONN Women’s basketball and Phoenix Suns.  What he cherished most was his family, especially his four grandchildren.

Al leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Alexander (Deborah) Horjatschun of Ansonia, CT, Nina (Jimmy) Malerba of Nazareth, PA, his grandchildren, Grace, and Marco Malerba both of Nazareth, PA and Kelly, and Matthew Horjatschun both of Ansonia, CT.  He is also survived by several in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by father Ivan and Mother Maria (Kotko), sisters Anna Briket and Nadia Falko, brother’s in-law John Rosola and John Savicky.

Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated for Al on Saturday April, 13, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, Jenkintown, PA.  Interment services will be private.
