Sofia Kurylec Obituary

Sofia Kurylec, a resident of Northeast Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 24, 1988. She was 63.

Born in Chelm, Ukraine, Sofia was the daughter of the late Maxym and Nadia (Klymowsky) Nowasad. She emigrated to the United States after World War II and was employed by the School District of Philadelphia.

Sofia is survived by her husband, Teodor Kurylec; her daughter Nadia Waters; her son Walter Kurylec; and her son Zenon Kurylec. She is predeceased by her children Jurij and Zenovia Kurylec.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday at 7 PM at the Nasevich Funeral Home. Parastas prayers will be sung at 8:30 PM. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 AM at the funeral home followed by Requiem Liturgy at 10 AM at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Elkins Park, PA.
